ALI-372: Understanding the Quran – Part 1

This course builds on the Quranic Arabic courses by applying the previously gained knowledge in analyzing and understanding the verses and eternal message in the Quran. The course will focus on passages from Access to Quranic Arabic: Selections by Abdul Wahid Hamid examine them within the following context:

The application of the underlying Arabic grammar rules learned in Quranic Arabic courses;

The interpretation of the verses according to authentic Tafsīr augmented with the relevant Sunnah of the Prophet and the ahādīth;

The examination of the relevant passages from various Du’ās including Nahjul Balāgha and Sahīfa Sajjādiyya to understand the deeper aspects of the verses in the Qur’an; and

This course will appeal to all ages and is designed to create greater awareness for those yearning to understand the words of Allah.

Instructor:  Br. Mohamedreza Ardehali. He has a Bachelor and Master in Arabic language and literature. Presently he is working on Ph.D. in Qur’anic Hermeneutics. He is currently co-authoring a book on Quranic Arabic and teaching Philosophy & World Religions at a high school.

Eligibility: All Muslims ages 16 and over.

Prerequisite: Can read the Quran and has basic knowledge of Arabic.

Venue:  Crescent Village, 138 Yorkland Street, Richmond Hill.

Dates:  April 1 to April 29, 2017 for 5 weeks.

Schedule: On Saturdays, from 10:30 am to 12:00 noon

Fees:  $50 payable at the start of the course.
